The Flatlanders – Now It’s Now Again

University of Texas Press, 2014

A musical biography of the Texas-born “supergroup in reverse.” After performing together in 1971 in West Texas for less than a year and recording a Nashville album that never saw the light of day, the Flatlanders – acclaimed singer/songwriters Joe Ely, Butch Hancock and Jimmie Dale Gilmore – went their separate ways. Even as they achieved individual success, the legend of their fledgling collaboration grew alongside them. The Flatlanders: Now It’s Now Again chronicles the history of the group and its members and their re-emergence in the 21st century leading to a sold-out show at Carnegie Hall.
